VeriShow 4.8 | Release Notes

We’ve just released a new version of VeriShow, which includes quite a few new features and improvements. Most notably, we’ve added support for WebRTC for high quality audio/video chats. Details on this new version and recent additions below.

High Quality Audio/Video Chat in Chrome/Firefox

We’ve now added support for a new peer-to-peer technology called WebRTC. When the agent/visitor are using either Chrome or a recent version of FireFox (ver. 23+), WebRTC is used instead of the standard audio/video component.

This results in great video and audio quality! The user interface for using this new technology remains the same. The only difference you will notice is in how you are prompted to allow the microphone or webcam to be accessed – it is presented at the top area of the browser, just below the address bar.

WebRTC is rolled out gradually to accounts. All accounts can expect to have this new great feature within a few weeks. Look out for a notification on VeriShow’s Twitter/Facebook, when availability for all accounts in announced. Support for the Chrome browser will be released first with Firefox to follow.

Please note that at present WebRTC is available to VeriShow subscribers only and not to VeriShow for LivePerson subscribers, due to technical limitations.

Text Tool Options

The text tool present in the annotation toolbar (available e.g. in Share File, Whiteboard, Visitor’s Doc apps) now includes various text options: font family, color, size and style. This was added to clients’ request and is great for adding notes and comments! The new options are available in the drop-down menu (small arrow) next to the text (T) icon.

Paste / Screenshot Feature

The Share File and Visitor’s Doc apps now have include support for pasting an image from the clipboard. How to: When launching the Share File or Visitor’s Doc apps, these applications give the user the option to choose a file from his/her computer, instead, the user can simply paste an image from the clipboard (e.g. CTRL+V on Windows). This is great for sharing screenshots and for pasting an image that was copied in another application such as Paint. Note: this feature is only supported when Chrome or Firefox are used by the user pasting the image.

After the agent clicks Share File or Visitor’s Doc, it is possible to take a screenshot for example and then paste the image. The above shows the preview of the pasted image before sharing it in the session.

Spell-checker

The VeriShow text chat now has a built-in spell-checker (agent side). When a word is misspelled it is underlined in red. Right clicking on the word presents suggested corrections.

Video-only mode

In addition to existing configuration options (e.g. limiting the customer from starting video), we’ve now added an option to use the platform with one-way video without audio (agent to customer). This setup is usually suitable for use in conjunction with a telephone. The visitor joins a session, the agent calls the visitor on the phone and start his/her own video, the agent and customer talk on the phone while the customer can see the agent’s video. This utilizes the existing company’s telephony (including recorded calls etc) while raising customer confidence who can see the agent in real time.
